The firefighters were attending a fire at the Bon Accord Bed and Breakfast, that is surrounded by gardens and is considered one of Sale’s oldest heritage properties.
Two of the firefighters were flown to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne for treatment of serious burns. The other two treated at Sale Hospital and are in a stable condition.
Our thoughts are with those injured, their families, local Brigades and community at this difficult time.
A statement issued by the CFA Chief Officer, Steve Warrington, said:
This morning four volunteer CFA firefighters sustained injuries while attending a building fire in Sale.
Two males have been transported to the Alfred Hospital with serious injuries and two other firefighters, a male and a female, are being treated locally for burns.
This incident highlights the dangers which our firefighters are subjected to daily as they protect Victorian communities.
We are providing support to the families of those involved as well as the brigade.
